Thomas Telford Corpach Marina construction has begun!

Last week seen Corpach Marina Phase 1 contractors George Leslie begin work on site at Corpach – a momentous occasion for the Thomas Telford Marina project.

This project has overcome many hurdles in reaching this stage, not to mention a delayed start due to the impact of lockdown restrictions, but with necessary precautions in place it is all systems go.

After years of planning, consultation, detailed design work and lease negotiations we are delighted for CRC, we are pleased to support them on this project and are sure of exciting times ahead for Thomas Telford Corpach Marina.

Northern light celebrates commitment to real living wage

Northern Light Consulting has been accredited as a Living Wage Employer in June this year. This Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Northern Light receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.30 in the UK or £10.75 in London.

Both rates are significantly higher than the government minimum for over 25s, which currently stands at £8.72 per hour.

Northern Light is based in Fort William, where in Scotland sees nearly a fifth of all jobs (17%) pay less than the real Living Wage – around 380,000 jobs. Despite this, Northern Light has committed to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 230,000 people and put over £1 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.

Greg Riddle, Director, Northern Light said:

“As a small business who trade on our knowledge, integrity and professionalism, being recognised as a Living Wage employer is an important step for us in demonstrating our commitment to our greatest asset – our people.”

Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said:

“We’re delighted that Northern Light has joined the movement of over 6000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.

They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Chelsea and Everton Football Clubs, Lush, and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Northern Light, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”
